September 11 changed many aspects of American life, even though your generation was born afterward. Think about a major event that has happened during your own lifetime, such as the COVID-19 pandemic or another event that affected your community or the country. How do you think your experience with that event helps you understand what it might have been like for Americans to experience the uncertainty and change following 9/11? Explain the connection.
For me, Covid was the event that has permanently affected me and my community. It was the social and personal aspect for me, despite note getting sick once. Life before was very free as a 3rd/4th grader, but by the time things were back to normal, I was in the end of 6th grade. Everything was different. The uncertainty and change similar to 9/11 was much more emotional and widespread for sure. People were still suffering from deaths of their friends and family. Anyone could get sick, and there would be nothing you could do but wait to get better or die. But overall in both, public support grew stronger. People supported those on the front lines that were working to get life back to normal.
Today we took a test over our short story.
It was kind of hard since a lot of questions had answer choices that were all good. So I had to really think about them then answer. But I think the test went well for only a few days of reading the story and analyzing it ourselves.
