Today, you had the opportunity to express yourself through poetry. Reflect on your creative writing process. What did you find most enjoyable or challenging about turning your thoughts into a poem? Did this assignment change the way you think about poetry or creative writing? Explain your experience.

Writing the poem was pretty hard in terms of the time crunch and having to rhyme. I didn’t have much time to think about what I wanted to write, so this poem was very open and dramatic. I enjoyed coming up with imagery and references since I feel like that’s the most impactful part of any literature, is being able to immerse yourself into it. But it was hard since the more I think about what I write, the harder it is to write. So I just to go with whatever came to me first. I think poetry and creative writing comes easier if you read more and go through more life experiences as you get older. But it also showed me the hard work required to write literature which I feel like is extremely undervalued.

Today we wrote a poem of our own.

I wrote about humans and nature and how it’s a part of us. Especially about how much we are a part of nature and how it lives through us. I’m happy with what I wrote since it may be the first real poem that I’ve ever written, at least in high school.
